I was using BSafe/Cloudcare, but they aren't compatible with AT&T Uverse services. I'm now forced to find a new monitering service.
I need a service which blocks sites, not just sends the information to an accountability partner. We should have the option to be able to block out specific websites, as well as categories. Weekly reports are good as well. Obviously there is X3Watch Pro (as supported by X3Church), but I'm looking for people who can specifically vouch for their software.
Anyone know any full-proof (at least to a regular user like me) filtering software that's worth using? -
X3watchpro is based upon SafeEyes which does a great job. I'd say most people would find it impervious and reliable. The nice thing about their system is that it can be administrated as well as monitored remotely; the admin profile is on their server. K9webprotection is free and an excellent filter, but it doesn't send detailed reports and doesn't have remote capability. Wisechoice.net is a specialty version of SafeEyes for those who don't have a person to serve as the admin; you control all the settings but the porn filter - always "on".

What about Covenant Eyes? How does it compare? Also, what are all the options that filter as well as include accountability reports?
-
Don't know about Covenant Eyes filter. For years they only offered accountability monitoring, and it did a good job and was not easy to bypass. Thought it was a little expensive though. I would expect their filtering program to be equally as good. Most of these websites give details of the categories being filtered and what kind of reports are sent. SafeEyes used to offer 2 or 3 alert systems, including a text message (I think), or phone call, when the filter saw a problem.. and email alerts. The filtering history and control settings were all available remotely on the server. There was a flat rate per year for the filter $49 and the optional alert system cost a few dollars per month. If you want a decent free system without all the bells and whistles you can combine k9webprotection (excellent filter) with x3watch free monitoring. You can have an agreement with your AP that you can call them anytime you feel tempted or like talking or have blown it, and not get shamed but encouraged by them. There would need to be someone else to control the password and the admin email address for the filter.

Thanks for the respond east. The free combination of k9webprotection and x3watch would that send in the report to an accountability partner websites that were blocked? Or is that something reserved only for the x3watch pro? Also, isn't safeeyes really designed more for parents to control their children's internet usage?

Yes, the X3watch free version ( you'll have to dig to find the link or I can post it later) will notify 2 or 3 AP's with a list of any questionable websites.. every 2 weeks. The pay service includes the filter and the monitor reports are more frequent. SafeEyes is for all ages. One thing I'll suggest is that you go into this with a heart that truly desires to have blocking software or monitoring software installed. If you start resenting it, you'll start trying to circumvent and lying about it... not good. This is why older people sometimes just go with the monitoring type. Covenant Eyes probably still offers monitoring only. Another one is accountable2you.com

I know. I am committed to it. Does that mean the x3 watch would include in its report a list of sites that were blocked (if running with the k9 blocker)?
-
No. The two are unrelated. Your AP would have to visit your home or your laptop and log in to the K9 local page to read history report, then delete it. They don't offer the remote feature and have nothing to do with X3watch. K9 would be there to block sites. X3 would be there to report sites that were not blocked but might be questionable.
